On June 23, specialists of ‘Spetstyazhavtotrans’ group of companies completed loading of ‘Ural’ icebreaker’s left and right side nuclear reactor’s metal water shield tanks. This is company’s third icebreaker. Sergei Lvovich Tropin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Spectyazhavtotrans” group of companies, had personally supervised the process of lifting and installing the cargo.

The icebreaker is being assembled on the shipway of the ‘BALTIC SHIPYARD’. It took two days to fully load the ship’s components on board. Tanks, weighing 290 tons, were transported from the boathouse to the installation site with the self-propelled vehicle ‘Cometto’ (Italy). Lifting and installation in the design position was carried out with the modular system MPS-500, which is capable of not only raising oversized cargos up to 500 tons, but also moving them, which is especially valuable in the constrained conditions of an icebreaker construction.

Right after loading the tanks, ‘Spetstyazhavtotrans’ group of companies will install three propulsion motors, weighing 310 tons, and two steam-generating units, weighing 200 tons.
